Crazy how far we have come...

A year ago today, Zach was fired from Henderson State University.  I remember the sick feeling in my stomach, crying until I went to sleep, and praying like I had never prayed before.  I knew our lives would change drastically, but little did I know we would be married and in Moultrie, Georgia a year later.  We knew we wanted to be married, and had even talked about a Christmas wedding, but that was not His plan!  If there is one thing I have learned through this year it is that my life is not in MY hands, and I have to TRUST the Lord with my entire heart.  That is what gets me through everyday of being away from my family and friends.

I still have hard feelings toward Henderson Football and probably always will until a new coaching staff comes in, but I realize that this is the life of a coach... especially on the college level.  If we ever make it back to the college level, we will more than likely go through it again, but we cannot let that fear keep us from moving forward.  In honor of this week, I want to post the picture that was in the Packer Football Program.  We could not ask for a better situation with football on the high school level.  The only negative is being so far from Arkansas... and having to wear DeQueen colors :)  The first time I wore all my black and gold, I had to wear orange panties to keep the Scrappers "closer."

First Time...

I have never blogged before, but I think this will be a perfect project for others to keep up with our lives and vice versa since I do not get to see my family and friends as much as I would like. Zach and I were married on July 10th, 2009 (a perfect wedding) and moved out to Georgia the next day! I had never lived more than an hour from my home and family up to this point, but now we live 12 hours away. We just got back to Georgia from spending almost 2 weeks with my family in Arkansas. Zach got to shoot his first deer and go on a luxurious duck hunting trip with Mr. Wilson and my dad at Grassy Lake.

It was great to see some of my very best friends and catching up on the gossip in the small town of Nashville. Never a dull moment when the girls get together :)

Christmas is always a special time for our family because we are such a small family. It's just my family (mom, dad, DJ, me, and now Zach) and my mom's parents (Jammy and Joe). We are so spoiled because we are still the kids of the family! Zach is so much fun to watch open presents because he is so sincere in his excitement for each present. Give him something with a Bengal or Nike logo, and you cannot go wrong. I got a new canon camera from Zach for Christmas, so my project for the next semester is to learn as much as possible about photography and editting. I have always enjoyed taking pictures, so I hope I have a new hobby to keep me busy when I am a football widow again.

Our first Christmas together as a married couple could not have been better. We loved being in Arkansas and with our family and friends there. I am already counting down the days until we get to go back... hopefully flying this time.
